About All Saints'
All Saints' is an active Roman Catholic parish church on Chichele Road in Oxted, Surrey. Standing north of the town centre and near Oxted School, the church is protected as a Grade II listed building. It shares its parish with St Ambrose Church in Warlingham.
Construction began in 1913, with the foundation stone placed on 3 August 1914. The First World War interrupted the project after the crypt, sacristy and chancel had been finished. Work resumed after the conflict, and the outer walls were complete by December 1920. James Leonard Williams designed the nave and sanctuary, as well as the rood screen, but died before the building was finished. The church was consecrated in July 1927 and completed in 1928. Geoffrey Webb created several interior elements, including the ceiling, organ gallery and reredos. The latter incorporates a painted version of Fra Angelico’s Coronation of the Virgin. An extension was added to the western side in 2001 under architect Deirdre Waddington.
