About St Mark's Church

St Mark’s Church in Upper Hale, Farnham, is an active Anglican parish church within the Church of England. The building has held Grade II listed status since December 2021. Sunday services take place at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, with further services on Tuesday at 9:00 am and Wednesday at noon.

Consecrated in July 1883, the church was established after services held at a local school attracted a growing congregation. Built of exposed red brick, it has a nave without aisles and a compact chancel. Notable features include a Tudor-style altar dated 1608 and a pipe organ installed in 1912. Kitty Milroy, a local artist, painted the sanctuary murals between about 1911 and 1920, depicting the Annunciation, the Benedicite and scenes from the area. Conservation of these paintings began in 2021. The stained glass includes images of St Mary, St Agnes, St Mark and St Swithun.
