About St Bride's Church, East Kilbride
St Bride’s Church, East Kilbride is a Roman Catholic place of worship in South Lanarkshire, in the wider Glasgow area. It continues to serve its parish and occupies a site not far from central East Kilbride. Its architectural significance is recognised through Category A listing.
Gillespie, Kidd & Coia designed the church, which was erected between 1959 and 1964 as East Kilbride expanded in the post-war period. The congregation had previously gathered at the Guild Hall dedicated to St Bride in the Village area. The design combines a substantial, imposing brick exterior with distinctive openings that channel natural light into the sanctuary. Considered an important work of modern British religious architecture, the building underwent restoration in 2016.
