About Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints is an Anglican parish church at Kingweston in Somerset. It serves within the Wheathill Priory Group of Parishes, under the Diocese of Bath and Wells. The building is listed at Grade II* for its special architectural and historic interest.
Charles Edmund Giles oversaw an extensive rebuilding programme from 1852 until 1855, paid for by Francis Dickinson, the area’s MP. Only limited medieval material was retained, among it an earlier entrance. The stone structure features detailing in Doulting stone beneath roofs covered with stone slates. Its plan comprises a three-bay nave and a chancel divided into two bays. Buttresses support the short tower, which carries a spire with eight sides. Although the fittings and decorative scheme largely belong to the Victorian rebuilding, the font survives from the 1100s. Nearby wartime bombing damaged the fabric during the Second World War.
