About Moriah Aman Pentecostal Chapel

Moriah Aman Pentecostal Chapel stands on Fforchaman Road in Cwmaman, Aberdare, within Rhondda Cynon Taf. Now used as a Pentecostal church, it is recognised as a National Monument of Wales.

The congregation began in 1853 through the work of the Revd John Davies, minister at Saron in Aberaman. It developed from a Sunday school, followed by gatherings for prayer in nearby homes. The original chapel opened on 2 October 1855, when 27 people joined from Saron. A replacement building, completed in 1893, provided 650 seats, including space for 250 in its gallery. By 1905, the congregation numbered 435 members. The chapel ceased operating in 1988, but the building was renovated in 1995 for Pentecostal worship.
