About Our Lady of Ransom and The Holy Souls Roman Catholic Church
Our Lady of Ransom and The Holy Souls Roman Catholic Church is an active Roman Catholic parish on Victoria Road, Llandrindod Wells, Powys. The church also acts as the principal church of the local deanery. Sunday Mass is celebrated at 11.00 am.
The parish began in 1907 through Jesuits who travelled from St Beuno’s College, close to St Asaph. Catholic worship first took place inside the earlier presbytery, which was nicknamed the Upper Room during Father Barling’s ministry. This was the Society of Jesus’s only church foundation in central Wales. During the twentieth century, responsibility for the parish was transferred to the Diocese of Menevia. A replacement church was erected at the present Victoria Road site in 1972 and continues to serve the parish.
