About Pitlochry Church of Scotland
Pitlochry Church of Scotland is a Presbyterian congregation based on Church Road in Pitlochry, Perth and Kinross. Serving the town in the Tummel valley, it continues as a place of worship and has shared a ministry with Blair Atholl and Struan since 2024. The church is protected as a Category A listed building.
Christian worship in the locality may date from the seventh century, with an early foundation associated with St Colm or St Colman. Moulin became the parish centre during medieval times, but its kirk was badly damaged by fire in 1873. A separate building for Pitlochry was subsequently created on land given by Archibald Butter of Faskally. Finished in 1884, it was planned by Dundee architects Charles and Leslie Ower, blending Romanesque, Gothic Revival and Byzantine influences. The grounds include a memorial to Alexander Duff, an early Scottish missionary in India, while the hall dates from 1910. The present congregation emerged through the union of the East and West churches in 1992.
