About St Serf's Church

St Serf’s Church is a historic church in Perth, Perth and Kinross, and is protected as a Category A listed building. It remained in use until 1972 and is now cared for by Historic Scotland. The building may be visited free of charge under supervision.

The church has origins in the 12th century, with its medieval tower incorporated into a building largely shaped during the early 1800s. Alexander Bowie carried out extensive alterations from 1808 to 1810. A forestair provides access to the eastern gallery, with a lintel bearing the date 1687. Stained glass made by Ballantine and Son and by Ballantine and Gardiner was installed between 1899 and 1910. The church also houses the ninth-century Dupplin Cross, moved inside in 2002, while the churchyard contains stones dated 1623 and 1624.
