About Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland
The Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland stands on Pomarium Street, near the south-western edge of Perth city centre. Located in Perth and Kinross, the church is part of the Presbyterian tradition and is protected as a Category C listed building.
Completed in 1939, the building was designed by Perth architect William Erskine Thomson. It was first constructed for the Forteviot Charitable Trust as a hall with an attached caretaker’s flat, serving an area of the city that was then in decline. The church remains largely unchanged and is distinguished by careful architectural detailing. Its most notable exterior features are stepped gable ends in the Scottish style and sharply pitched dormers topped by pediments.
