About Church of St Dogfael

The Church of St Dogfael is a small, redundant Church of England church in Eglwyswrw, Pembrokeshire. Dedicated to St Dogfael, it is protected as a Grade II listed building and is cared for by the Friends of Friendless Churches.

Robert Jewell Withers designed the church, which was constructed in 1864–65 for its patron, the landowner and Cardiganshire MP Sir Thomas Lloyd. It occupies the location of an older place of worship, from which the north entrance may survive, although its date is uncertain. The simple Gothic Revival building has sandstone walls, Bath stone detailing and a roof covered with slate. Within the churchyard stands the Hogtivis Stone, bearing a Latin inscription commemorating Hogtivis as the son of Demetus.
