About Saint Anthony of Padua

Saint Anthony of Padua is a Roman Catholic parish church at 115 Headley Way in Headington, a suburban area to the east of Oxford in Oxfordshire. It serves as a Catholic place of worship in the city and is associated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham.

The church dates from 1960 and was designed by the architectural practice Jennings, Homer & Lynch. Its exterior is built in yellow brick. Author J. R. R. Tolkien belonged to the parish while living nearby on Sandfield Road, and he also provided financial support to the church. Following his death, his Requiem Mass was celebrated there on 6 September 1973.
