About Thorneywood Congregational Church
Thorneywood Congregational Church was a Congregational place of worship in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. It occupied a site on Thorneywood Lane, near Carlton Road, in the area now forming part of Porchester Road. The church is no longer active: it ceased to hold services in 1968, and its building was later demolished.
The congregation began in 1861 as an offshoot of Castle Gate Congregational Centre. A purpose-built church opened three years later, in 1864. It served the Thorneywood community for just over a century before closing following its final service on 18 February 1968. No details of its architectural style, construction materials or internal fittings are recorded in the supplied history.
