The Good Shepherd is a Roman Catholic church on Thackeray’s Lane in Woodthorpe, Nottingham. It holds Grade II* listed status and is included on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register. Its condition has been rated poor, with the building considered at immediate risk of further rapid decay or damage to its fabric.
Designed by Gerard Goalen, the church opened in July 1964 and marked its fiftieth anniversary in 2014. Its modern architecture received a Royal Institute of British Architects award in 1966. Notable features include dalle de verre glass created by Patrick Reyntiens and a pipe organ made by J. W. Walker & Sons. After earlier problems with the flat roof, membrane replacement and reinforcement were carried out in 2012 at a cost of about £300,000. Parish fundraising supported the project, alongside substantial match funding from English Heritage.
