About Redcliffe Road Methodist Chapel
Redcliffe Road Methodist Chapel was a Methodist place of worship in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. It served its congregation from 1884 until 1969, when the building was demolished, and no longer stands.
The congregation first met at Mars Hill on Mansfield Road, later using rooms in Sherwood Street and an iron-built chapel on Woodborough Road. Work on the Redcliffe Road premises was marked by a foundation ceremony on 18 October 1883, and worship began there on 29 May 1884. Abraham Harrison Goodall designed the building, which was constructed by Nottingham firm George Bell and Sons and included substantial school space beneath the main church. Some building costs were met by selling church-owned freehold land on Woodborough Road. Originally established for the Methodist New Connexion, the church subsequently became part of the United Methodist Church.
