About Hyson Green Methodist Free Church
Hyson Green Methodist Free Church stands where Noel Street meets Gregory Boulevard in Hyson Green, Nottingham. No longer used as a church, the building later became Hyson Green Girls’ Club and now serves as Hyson Green Community Centre.
The church was built in 1895 after the Methodist congregation’s chapel in Lindsay Street became too small. Its foundation stones were placed on 21 October that year. Designed by F. W. Dixon & Son, it was constructed by John Lewin, a contractor from Netherfield. The frontage combines terracotta made at Ruabon with contrasting stone details from Darley Dale.
