About Cross Street Baptist Church
Cross Street Baptist Church stands in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, in the Nottingham area. The church ceased operating in 2020. After trespassers vandalised the building, proposals were lodged in 2024 to convert it into apartments, marking a possible new use for the former place of worship.
A Baptist chapel was first constructed on the site in 1825 for the Particular Baptist congregation from George Street. Around the middle of the nineteenth century, it was sold to the Scotch Baptists associated with Park Street. The present church replaced that earlier chapel and was completed in 1909 to plans by architect William Herbert Higginbottom. It formally began use on 18 February that year.
