Christ Citadel Christian Centre occupies the former St Catharine’s Church at 20 St Ann’s Well Road in Nottingham. The building ceased to serve its original Church of England parish in 2003 and was purchased by Christ-Citadel International Church in 2007.
The parish of St Catharine was created in 1884 from parts of four neighbouring parishes. Work on the church began with the laying of its foundation stone in July 1895, following plans by Robert Charles Clarke, and it was consecrated in November 1896. Designed in the Early English style, it uses Bulwell stone with contrasting Bath stone details. Its original layout included a nave, chancel, southern chapel and small bell turret. A fire in August 1946 harmed the vestry and part of the roof; post-war controls delayed permission for repairs until May 1947. The fire also destroyed the first organ, which was replaced in 1948.
