About St Peter's Church, Laneham
St Peter's Church, Laneham is a Church of England parish church in Laneham, Nottinghamshire. Set on a small knoll overlooking the river, it forms the focal point of Church Laneham. The church is recognised as a building of exceptional historic significance through its Grade I listed status.
The building dates from about 1150 and incorporates work carried out across the twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. A restoration took place in 1891, followed by renovation of the porch in 1932. Inside is an imposing and richly detailed monument made from alabaster, commemorating Ellis Markham and his son Jervase. It dates to 1636 and is among the church’s most notable surviving historic features.
