About St John the Baptist
St John the Baptist is a Church of England church in the village of Tiffield, Towcester, Northamptonshire. Standing on High Street South, it is protected as a Grade II* listed building. The church is beside the former Reading Room, which is now called the Church Room.
Dating to about 1200, the church is considerably older than the other buildings in the village. Its most notable surviving feature is a Norman font, reflecting the early history of the building. Restoration and renewal were undertaken in 1859 under the architect Edmund Francis Law. Further work followed in 1873, led by H. C. Vernon.
