About St Leonard's, Apethorpe
St Leonard’s, Apethorpe is a Church of England parish church at 1 Bridge Street in Northamptonshire. It remains in active use within the Diocese of Peterborough and is protected as a Grade I listed building, a status granted in 1967.
The church has fourteenth-century origins, with much of its surviving fabric dating from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Built in coursed limestone with dressed stone details and lead-covered roofs, it comprises a nave, two aisles, chancel, south porch and chapel. A three-stage western tower and chapel were added during the seventeenth century, and the tower underwent restoration in the nineteenth. The tower has a battlemented top and an eight-sided spire. Inside are an eighteenth-century pulpit and font, together with several memorials, including a substantial marble monument to Sir Anthony Mildmay and Lady Grace Mildmay.
