About All Saints Church
All Saints Church stands on Church Lane in Brackley, Northamptonshire, and belongs to the Church of England. Recognised for its exceptional historic and architectural significance, it is designated a Grade I listed building.
Originating in the early fourteenth century, the church is principally Decorated Gothic in character. The central vessel is flanked by northern and southern aisles, with a raised clerestory and arcades divided into four sections. Its western bell tower and tall spire were introduced during a later medieval phase and display Perpendicular Gothic design. The spire reaches approximately 46 metres and endured lightning strikes on three occasions during the eighteenth century. George Gilbert Scott oversaw extensive restoration work in 1865. This project introduced stained glass conceived by several Pre-Raphaelite figures, including William Morris, Edward Burne-Jones and Ford Madox Brown, and produced by Morris & Co. The interior also features mosaic work from James Powell and Sons. Historic memorials in the burial ground include Baroque gravestones, Georgian chest tombs and a Victorian Gothic Revival mausoleum.
