About Church of St Peter
The Church of St Peter serves the Church of England parish of Willerby in North Yorkshire. It is recognised as a Grade II* listed building, having received this designation in 1966.
The nave dates from the 13th century, while the west tower and south porch were added during the following century. The north aisle was made narrower in the 18th century, and restoration in 1881–82 included reconstructing the chancel. Built in sandstone and roofed with slate, the church also has a north aisle and a nave aligned with the chancel. The buttressed tower features a three-light window, a northern stair turret, louvred openings for the bells and a battlemented parapet. Details on the gabled porch include a sundial and a carved head on the keystone. Inside are Victorian oil lamps and east-window stained glass dating to about 1879.
