St. Mary's Church is an active Church of England parish church in Muker, within the Richmond area of North Yorkshire. It belongs to the four-church benefice serving Swaledale and Arkengarthdale and is in the Diocese of Leeds. The building is protected at Grade II*.
Built in 1580 on the site of an earlier dependent chapel, the church is an uncommon surviving place of worship from Elizabeth I’s reign. Its original thatch was replaced by slate in 1791, while the tower was altered and probably heightened in 1719. The walls incorporate older masonry, possibly dating from the fourteenth century. Medieval bells may have come from Ellerton Priory following its suppression. A restoration in 1890 removed the west gallery. Notable details include a sundial above the southern entrance and stained glass in the east window showing the River Swale, Straw Beck and the local landscape.
