About Church of St Paul
The Church of St Paul is a Church of England place of worship in Brompton-on-Swale, North Yorkshire. It serves the village within the parish centred on St Agatha’s Church at Easby and has been protected as a Grade II listed building since 1969.
Built in 1838 as a chapel of ease, the stone church has a Welsh slate roof. Part of the interior originally served as a schoolroom until a separate school opened behind it in 1872. The building comprises a two-bay nave and north porch, with a taller two-bay chancel and vestry to the south. A bellcote with Baroque-influenced coping crowns the western gable. Perpendicular tracery appears in the nave windows and at the east end, while the remaining chancel windows use Y-tracery. During alterations in the 1990s, fixed pews were removed and replaced with movable seating.
