About St Bridget

St Bridget is a Church in Wales parish church in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. It remains in regular ecclesiastical use and serves Llansantffraed, the smallest parish in the county. The building is protected with Grade II* status, while a cross of late medieval date in the churchyard is separately listed at Grade II.

Originating in the Norman period, the church preserves substantial early masonry. It is a compact structure of Old Red Sandstone, distinguished by a notably large bellcote added sometime before the Victorian work. John Prichard and John Pollard Seddon carried out restoration in 1856 and 1857, including the construction of the porch. Later changes have been limited, chiefly to roof renewal and routine repairs during the 1990s. Inside, a striking group of seventeenth-century wall monuments traces the forebears of William Jones as far back as 1438.
