About Holy Trinity Church, Hoylake
Holy Trinity Church, Hoylake was an Anglican church in Hoylake, Wirral, Merseyside. Demolished in 1976 after being judged unsafe and closing in 1974, it no longer serves as a parish church. Its surviving graveyard contains more than 200 memorials and headstones, including 23 Commonwealth war graves from the two world wars. John O’Neill VC is among those buried there.
Consecrated on 1 November 1833, the church became the parish church for Hoose, Little Hoose and Great Hoose in 1860. Two daughter churches were established during its lifetime: St Hildeburgh’s in Hoylake and St John’s in Meols, both of which later became parish churches. Julian Lennon was christened at Holy Trinity in 1963. Former choristers included harpsichordist Heather Slade-Lipkin, broadcaster Pete Price and judge David Hale.
