St Mary is an active Roman Catholic parish church on Birchley Road in Wigan, Merseyside. It belongs to the Archdiocese of Liverpool and, together with its presbytery, has Grade II listed status. In 2020, the parish grew when St Patrick’s at Clinkham Wood closed and the two parishes united under one priest.
Built in 1828, the church was enlarged during the nineteenth century with the addition of its apse and presbytery. The stone building has a slate roof, a three-bay nave and an apsidal chancel. Its pedimented west front features a central porch with paired Doric columns, round-arched windows and a bellcote. Inside are a curved vaulted ceiling, a small gallery and a rounded chancel arch supported by columns with scroll-like capitals. An alabaster font from 1877 rests on marble shafts and bears symbols representing the Evangelists.
