About St Mary
St Mary is a Church of England parish church on New Lane in Loughborough, Leicestershire. It serves the parish alongside other congregations in the Barrow and Wolds Group and offers services at selected times. The building has Grade II listed protection.
Walton on the Wolds is believed to have had a church by 1220, originally under the patronage of St Bartholomew. A replacement was erected in 1736 and given its present dedication, with the western tower dating from that phase. Further reconstruction during the 1800s introduced Gothic elements to the nave and chancel. The walls are notably built from red brick, an uncommon choice compared with the rubble masonry often found in local churches. The interior also contains several windows with stained glass.
