About Euxton Parish Church

Euxton Parish Church stands on Wigan Road in Euxton, within the borough of Chorley, Lancashire. This Church of England place of worship remains an active parish church, serving within the Diocese and Archdeaconry of Blackburn. It has Grade II* listed status and can accommodate 191 people.

The church may have originated in the 14th century and was substantially rebuilt by the Molyneux family around 1513. First called Burgh Chapel, it began as a private chapel associated with Euxton Hall and later served as a chapel of ease under St Andrew’s in Leyland. After a period of Roman Catholic use, it passed to the Church of England around the end of the 17th century or beginning of the 18th. Inside, the nave contains a double piscina and sedilia dating to the early 1300s. A red sandstone entrance porch was added in 1998, using stone reclaimed from the barn of long-serving verger Eli Heaton. The churchyard includes the Second World War grave of an airman.
