About Church of Saint Botolph, Lullingstone
The Church of Saint Botolph, Lullingstone is an Anglican church near Eynsford in Kent, set within the grounds of Lullingstone Castle. It belongs to the Church of England and is protected as a Grade I listed building.
The church was constructed largely from dressed flint in about 1349, although it has undergone several later alterations. A brick chapel was added on the north side during the 16th century to house the elaborate tomb of Sir John Peché, who also gave the early 16th-century rood screen. In the 18th century, Percyvall Hart raised the nave roof and provided its decorative plaster ceiling, marble font, entrance porch and bell turret. The south roof slope is covered with slate, while clay tiles cover the northern side. Surviving stained glass includes a 14th-century chapel window and several examples dating from the 16th century. Further monuments commemorate members of the Hart family.
