About St Mary's
St Mary’s is a Church of England church on The Walk in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. It belongs to the Diocese of St Albans and follows the Catholic tradition within the Church of England in its services and worship.
Designed by J. S. Alder, the church was built to replace St John’s, which had fallen into poor condition. The earlier church stood where Potters Bar’s war memorial is now located. Princess Marie Louise of Schleswig-Holstein laid the foundation stone in June 1914, and the new building opened a year later.
