About Potters Bar Baptist Church
Potters Bar Baptist Church is a place of Baptist worship on Barnet Road in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. The present church stands next to an older chapel, now known as Potters Bar Old Baptist Church. This earlier building no longer serves as the main worship space and is used as a church hall for the neighbouring congregation.
An original Baptist chapel dated from 1789. In 1868 it was replaced by a building planned by W. Allen Dixon, which Particular Baptists formally registered as a place of worship. An extension was added in 1884. The structure was damaged by a German V-2 missile in 1945. A modern church was later constructed alongside it, allowing the nineteenth-century chapel to take on its present role as a hall.
