About Broxbourne Parish Church (St Augustine's)

Broxbourne Parish Church (St Augustine’s) is an active Church of England parish church in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. Situated across from the New River, it is protected as a Grade I listed building.

Broxbourne’s parish and priest appear in the Domesday Book, although that record gives no description of the earlier building. The present church is thought to have been completed by 1460 with funding from Sir John Say, whose tomb lies on the chancel’s southern side. In 1476, mason Robert Stowell enlarged the south aisle for Say. Further additions were made during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The church also houses a monument commemorating the road engineer John Loudon McAdam.
