About Saint John the Baptist
Saint John the Baptist is an Anglican place of worship in Winchester, Hampshire. The church continues to serve its parish and has Grade I listed status. Its formal parish dedication also includes St Martin, Winnall. Together with the parish covering All Saints and St Andrew at Chilcomb, it belongs to the East Winchester Benefice.
Built in 1200, the church has its origins in the medieval period. Its connection with St Martin reflects the later union of the two dedications. The former St Martin’s building at Winnall was pulled down in 1971, while the church in Winchester remained as the place of worship for the combined parish.
