About Church of St. Lawrence
The Church of St. Lawrence is a Church of England place of worship on Weston Road in Weston Patrick, Hampshire. Set towards the eastern edge of the village, close to its highest ground, the church is protected as a Grade II* listed building.
A late 12th-century north doorway is the sole surviving element of the Norman building. Thomas Henry Wyatt rebuilt the church in the Gothic Revival style in 1867–68, using flint with stone dressings and a red-tiled roof. At the west end is a timber-shingled spire and a turret containing one bell. The nave and chancel share the same width, while the chancel has a star-patterned dark blue ceiling and encaustic floor tiles. Notable fittings include carved foliage, stained glass by Lavers and Barraud, and a Henry Willis & Sons organ. A piece of embroidered altar cloth dated 1682 is displayed on a wall. Wyatt, who also gave the east window, is buried in the churchyard.
