About St. Mary's Llanfairpwllgwyngyll Parish Church
St. Mary's Llanfairpwllgwyngyll Parish Church is an active Church of England parish church in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, Gwynedd, Wales. The building received Grade II listed protection in 1998, recognising the quality and consistency of its modest Gothic Revival architecture.
The present structure was completed in 1853, replacing an older place of worship on the same site that was also dedicated to Mary. Constructed from rubble masonry at a cost of £950, the new church was consecrated by the Bishop of Bangor later that year. Most furnishings from its predecessor were changed, but the earlier baptismal font was kept. Stained glass added in 1876 includes eastern scenes from the Bible and a western portrayal of Christ accompanied by his apostles. Side windows were renewed in 1900 and 1906. Five Commonwealth burials in the churchyard commemorate military and merchant seafarers who died during the First and Second World Wars.
