About St Mary's Church

St Mary’s Church is a Church of England place of worship on Bridge Street in Llanerchymedd, Gwynedd. Dedicated to Saint Mary, it is protected at Grade II and has held this designation since 5 December 1970. The church closed by 2003 because the cost of necessary repairs could not be met, but by 2026 it was again hosting services twice each month.

The building has medieval origins. Its tower includes elements thought to survive from the twelfth century, notably the doorway on its eastern side. Much of the church was reconstructed in 1850 to plans by Henry Kennedy, an architect based in Bangor.
