About St Trygarn
St Trygarn is a Church of England parish church in Llandrygarn, Gwynedd, Wales. It remains in use, with worship conducted in both Welsh and English. Designated Grade II in 1971, the church is also the only monument in Llandrygarn.
The building probably originated during the 13th century. Its sole surviving element from that period is a former entrance from the nave’s north side, later repositioned in the chancel’s southern wall. The chancel’s collar-beam roof and window openings were added in the later medieval era. New windows and extensive internal refitting followed during the 19th century. Two 18th-century family memorials stand against the nave’s inner south wall: a slate tablet commemorating Owen and Elen Morris and three descendants, and a marble memorial to Ellin and John Hughes with two relatives. The modest, aisleless church was recorded as measuring about 12 metres by 4.42 metres.
