About St Mary's
St Mary’s is a Roman Catholic parish church in Holyhead, Gwynedd, on the Isle of Anglesey. Standing between Longford Road and Market Street, it belongs to the Caernarfon Deanery in the Diocese of Wrexham. The adjoining St Mary’s Catholic Primary School forms part of the parish and maintains links with the church.
The church opened on 28 February 1965, replacing an earlier building of 1860 that accommodated only 150 worshippers. Built for £50,000, the present church provided seating for 880 people. Its design is a substantial, formal square structure, raised on a platform and covered by a copper roof. A 1992 extension created a parish hall and library.
