About St. Nidan's Church
St. Nidan's Church is an active Anglican parish church on Ffordd Brynsiencyn, near Brynsiencyn in Gwynedd, Wales. It serves alongside four other churches in a combined group of parishes in southern Anglesey. The church is protected as a Grade II listed building for its distinctive early Gothic Revival design.
Constructed from 1839 to 1843, it replaced a medieval church that required extensive repairs and stood farther from the growing village. John Welch designed the cross-shaped building using red gritstone rubble, sandstone dressings and a slate roof. Its western tower contains a porch, belfry and clocks, with battlements added in 1933. The chancel dates from 1882, while the vestry and organ chamber were later additions. Older furnishings transferred from the former church include a carved 13th-century font, two medieval bells and a sandstone reliquary traditionally associated with St Nidan. Notable stained glass includes a depiction of Faith, Hope and Charity.
