About St Padrig's Church
St Padrig's Church is a medieval Church of England place of worship in Bae Cemaes, Gwynedd, Wales. It received Grade II* protection in December 1970, reflecting its considerable historic and architectural significance.
The present masonry building is believed to have begun in the 1100s, and the font is also attributed to that century. Its nave may belong to either the 12th or 13th century, while the chancel was constructed afterwards. The arch dividing these spaces may be from the early 1300s, and the chancel retains an east-facing window thought to date to the 1500s. Several phases of repair occurred during the 19th century, including substantial restoration in 1884. The church later ceased regular use following the opening of another church in Cemaes. Repairs were funded in 1985, but a subsequent fire badly damaged the roof. After further restoration, the building was consecrated again in 1987.
