About St Mary's Perivale
St Mary's Perivale is a former Anglican church in Perivale, Greater London, now used as an arts centre. The parish was abolished in 1972 after the A40 and surrounding development had isolated the building from most local residents. The Friends of St Mary, a community charity, then assumed responsibility for it. Today it hosts exhibitions and classical music performances, and has held Grade I status since 1950.
The church dates from the 12th or 13th century and is constructed from ragstone and flint. Its tower is faced with white-painted weatherboarding. Three bells were cast in 1949 as a memorial to members of the small parish and wider community who died during the Second World War.
