About St Mary's Church, Osterley

St Mary’s Church, Osterley is an active Anglican parish church on Osterley Road in Hounslow, Greater London. It shares a parish with St Luke’s and continues in the evangelical tradition established at its foundation.

Consecrated in 1855, the church served a newly formed parish separated from Isleworth. Its construction was financed by Henry Daniel Davies, who developed the nearby Spring Grove estate, and the architect was the younger John Taylor. The Gothic Revival building reflects medieval Decorated architecture, combining a brick structure with pale stone cladding. Broad, pointed windows with stone divisions were intended to light galleries that were never built. Within, columns support the vaulted nave, where stained glass was produced by Heaton, Butler and Bayne. Other features include a substantial pipe organ, a raised altar set beneath a lofty traceried window, and a spired clock tower containing the belfry, positioned to one side of the main building.
