About Balshagray Parish Church, 230 Broomhill Drive, Glasgow
Balshagray Parish Church stands at 230 Broomhill Drive in the Broomhill area of Glasgow. It is an active Church of Scotland parish church and is protected as a Category B listed building. The present congregation was formed in 1991 when the parishes of Balshagray and Victoria Park united, continuing to worship in this building.
Designed by Stewart and Paterson, the church was erected in 1908–09, with its foundation stone set on 30 May 1908. Its Neo-Gothic design follows a cross-shaped plan and uses dressed red sandstone laid in irregular courses. Memorial stained glass is a notable feature, including a chancel window commemorating those who died in the First World War. Another window, created by Sadie McLellan in 1950, depicts Scottish industries.
