About St Berres' Church

St Berres' Church is an Anglican place of worship in Llanferres, Flintshire, close to the A494 between Mold and Ruthin. It belongs to the Bro Famau group and sits within the Mold Mission Area, Wrexham archdeaconry and St Asaph diocese. The church has Grade II listed status.

A record from 1291 provides the earliest known written evidence, though the site may have older medieval roots. Alterations followed in 1650, with partial reconstruction in 1774, probably overseen by Joseph Turner. Thomas Jones later designed the southern transept and western tower. John Douglas renovated the interior during 1891 and 1892, taking out the galleries and wall plaster, adding a screen and moving glazing east to west. Limestone walls and slate roofing enclose an undivided nave and chancel, while the tower rises through three levels to an eight-sided bell structure. Historic furnishings include a 1684 font, two 13th-century grave slabs and memorials spanning the 14th to 18th centuries.
