About Episcopal Church of St Peter, Hope Street, Inverkeithing
The Episcopal Church of St Peter, Hope Street, Inverkeithing is an Episcopal building in the North Queensferry area of Fife. It is protected at Category C, a designation granted in 2004. The building now serves as a community hall, while worship was being held at Inverkeithing High School in 2022.
The church originated as a mission for the increasing Episcopal population employed near Jamestown. Approval was secured in 1899, and land at Witch Knowe Park was bought from the town council in 1902. Designed by Henry F. Kerr in the Edwardian Arts and Crafts tradition, its nave opened and was dedicated in 1903. A chancel was added in 1910, while alterations in 1980 created a hall and worship space. The stone building has a red-tiled sloping roof, a modest western bellcote, and coloured, obscured glazing at the eastern end. A roll of honour records ten congregants who died in the First World War.
