About Most Holy Sacrament Church, Marton
Most Holy Sacrament Church, Marton is a Roman Catholic church at Burton Constable in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It has held Grade II listed status since 1987.
William Constable financed its construction in 1788–89, with Thomas Atkinson providing a restrained design resembling a domestic building. Set within a moated site, the church is constructed from pinkish-brown brick beneath Welsh slate. Its main section comprises three bays across one high storey, with rounded windows along the south wall and the presbytery adjoining the north side. An eastern addition dates from the 19th century, while the western porch was introduced during the 20th. Interior details include a west gallery resting on Doric columns, paintings in the shallow chancel, surviving parts of box pews and a marble memorial carved by Thomas Tyley. A stained-glass window was fitted in 1946.
