About Prestonkirk Parish Church

Prestonkirk Parish Church is an active Church of Scotland parish church in the Haddington area of East Lothian, near East Linton and the River Tyne. It serves the parish of Traprain and is protected as a Category A listed building.

Tradition attributes its foundation to St Baldred of Tyninghame during the sixth century. The oldest part of the current structure is its tower, built in 1631, while the principal body of the church was constructed in 1770. An extension followed in 1824, and the interior underwent substantial alterations in 1892. A stained-glass window honouring St Baldred was added in 1959. The churchyard contains the graves of threshing-machine inventor Andrew Meikle and agriculturalist George Rennie, whose brother John Rennie was a civil engineer.
