About Church of St Hubert
The Church of St Hubert is a functioning Anglican parish church at Corfe Mullen in Dorset. Set amid fields in the Stour valley, it belongs to a parish shared with St Nicholas’ Church. The building is protected at Grade II* and remains a place for services, baptisms and marriages.
Constructed from heathstone obtained nearby, the church has its origins in the thirteenth century, perhaps replacing an older place of Christian prayer. Its earliest form was probably a plain rectangle comprising chancel and nave. The tower followed during the early 1300s, while alterations in 1841 introduced the southern transept and an organ loft, with the northern entrance porch adapted for use as a vestry. Carved bosses decorate the roof, among them a red rose and the letters ER, possibly linking it to Edward IV’s rule. Further historic details include a communion table from the 1600s and the arms of George III. An old yew and remnants of a medieval cross stand outside.
