About St Peter's Church, Belfast
St Peter’s Church, Belfast is an active Church of Ireland parish in County Antrim, serving Anglicans in the Antrim Road area of the city. Consecrated in 1900, it continues to function as a place of worship and has Grade B+ listed status.
Its original fabric, dating from around the turn of the twentieth century, comprises the sanctuary and the eastern nave, built from Scrabo sandstone and fitted with high-quality furnishings. The western portion was constructed during the early 1930s in a design consistent with the older work, although the contrasting shade of its masonry remains visible inside. Two chapels preserve objects from former neighbouring churches. One commemorates the Chapel of the Resurrection and accommodates smaller Communion gatherings. The north aisle became St James’ Chapel after receiving fittings from St James’ when that church ceased Anglican use in 2007. New parish rooms, offices and supporting facilities were added in the same year.
